Placencia Yamaha Saltwater Fishing Tournament
Second week in September - Local and international fishermen put on a tournament with over $10,000 in cash prizes.
Garifuna Settlement Day
The Garifuna people celebrates their arrival to the shores of Belize nearly 200 years ago. With exhibitions of traditional music and dance, local food such as cassava bread and hudut, and recreations of the boat arrival.

Runners (professional and amateur) come to Placencia every year for a marathon or half-marathon along the Placencia peninsula.
